Skylar is a painter and illustrator working primarily in oil and acrylic. Following a decade of active Naval service around the globe, they maintain a small studio practice out of SE Wisconsin near Lake Michigan with their cat Sweet Tea and dog Waffles. They plan to pursue art at a graduate level following the completion of their undergraduate degree in Art and Communication in Spring 2026.

As a queer artist, and veteran, Sky’s work focuses on the intersectionality and tension between public and private selves.

In response to AI -generated art, and the subsequent littering of uninspired imagery online, their work endeavors to bring viewers back to the craft of human creativity and mystery.
